Great Dog Obedience - Judi cont
Judi
has enthusiastically embraced scientifically sound training
strategies for her work with dogs that are reactive, aggressive and
excessively shy. Judi also works with dogs that a deaf as she is
competent in American Sign Language and has worked with canines and
people who are deaf and hard-of-hearing.
Judi has attended a number of seminars on a wide variety of canine
behavior and education topics. She specializes in reward-based
training and is a clicker training enthusiast. She believes that
early socialization for puppies is one of the most essential aspects
of successful co-habitation between people and dogs. Judi has
attended training with internationally acclaimed John Rogerson and
Dr. Ian Dunbar and Sue Sternberg. She has also taken classes with
local highly-praised professionals such as Kathy Sdao, and world
renowned Movie Dog Trainer, Anne Gordon. Judi is skilled at
temperament testing puppies and in evaluating shelter/rescue dogs
hoping to find new homes. She is a teacher and evaluator for
Project CANINE®™ and Bridges to Compassion humane education classes
taught in several local school districts. Judi also co-directs the
Project CANINE®™ therapy dog training, certification and visits.
Opie, her JRT, was selected as the 2006 Therapy Dog of the Year by
the Washington State Board Veterinary Medical Association and was
inducted into the Animal Hall of Fame at Washington State
University. Judi volunteers for the Seattle Ronald McDonald House
coordinating the therapy dog teams that visit daily at the house.
According to Judi, “Learning and growing with my canine companions
is one of life’s greatest joys, helping others make that wonderful
connection is what I strive for every time I teach a class or offer
a private lesson.”
